NIC Kay - Roots +ees

Saturday, May 25, noon - 4pm

Please join us for Roots +ees, a performance and sculptural installation by visiting artist NIC Kay. This body of work sprouts from the 2020 Candor Collective published COTTON DREAMS, an artist book chronicling a life-altering experience with a cotton plant on the streets of New York City and the resulting obsession with its American historic and cultural significance.

“I have been gathering/hoarding a collection of Black T-shirts and trees in pieces (bark, leaves, roots, branches). For close to 30 months, I waited for patience, in the season, in the studio, lodge + surrounding sculpture park. On May 25th, I will share broken, changed, and scattered sculptures around the grounds.” - NIC Kay

Performance on the Hilltop: 1 - 1:45 pm
Viewing of sculptural installation at the studio: noon - 4pm
